Most presenters have no idea how to manage nerves and tension. Sadly, many trainers cannot help either.
We cope with fear by preparing, but mostly prepare in the wrong way. We fear that we will forget our lines, so we look for reminders. We think that our audiences understand our jargon, and we pack in too much.
What poor audiences have to endure is: - Death by a thousand Powerpoint bullet points; slides are not teleprompters. - Mindless, pointless, endless clip-art, in an attempt to add visual interest. - Poor presentation structure, with too much detail.
Nervousness leads to postures that are stiff and wooden, often punctuated with pointless gestures or movement. Tension constricts the throat, so the voice is dull and monotonous, lacking vocal colour.
So what we see in most presentation is poor content accompanied by poor delivery.
At EPS we study and learn from great speakers. We coach and train you to apply proven Stage and Business techniques to overcome the problems of presenting: - Techniques to structure content and create engaging visual aids - Techniques to project confidence and convince audiences and - Techniques to deliver your final message or call to action which generate applause.
